Youth In Policing Initiative - Team Leader

The Youth In Policing Initiative (YIPI) offers employment with Kingston Police for youth 15 to 18 years of age who reside in the City of Kingston.

for Team Leader role in the YIPI 2024 Summer program.

YIPI runs in partnership with the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services. Over the course of the program students will engage in positive productive activities in a safe and healthy environment.

This is a paid student position running for 8 weeks, 40 hours/week, Mondays to Fridays. The initial start date will be on July 2, 2024 and end on September 2, 2024. As a Team Leader, you will be required to attend training on June 28, 2024.

The goal of YIPI is to inspire young people to look at the many different aspects of policing and to empower students to become ambassadors of change in the community of Kingston.

Your core responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Directly lead and supervise YIPI Students
  • Create and uphold a safe and respectful environment for all students
  • Mentor students within the assigned team groups and work to help them set goals and develop themselves

To qualify for the YIPI Team Leader position, applicants must:

  • Reside in the city of Kingston
  • Be currently enrolled in secondary/post-secondary school
  • Be returning to secondary/post-secondary school in September of 2023
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada

Selection

As a part of the selection for this position, all applicants may be assessed through a resume review, interviews, and background investigation.

We thank all applicants for their interest. Applications close at 4:00 pm on Monday March 11, 2024. Applicants selected for an interview will be contacted no later than Friday March 29, 2024. All interviews will take place the week of April 1, 2024.
