Individual arrested and charged with shoplifting and weapon offences

On April 27, 2024, at approximately 4:30 p.m. police responded to a call regarding an incident of shoplifting that had just occurred at a store located in the area of Princess Street and Barrie Street in downtown Kingston.

 

Arriving on scene police learned that the accused had attempted to leave the store without making any attempts to pay for the merchandise that she had selected. Officers arrested the accused and further investigation revealed that this individual was breaching multiple court-imposed conditions.

 

A search incident to arrest revealed that the accused was also in possession of a folding flick knife, which was a prohibited weapon.

 

The accused was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing.

 

A 33-year-old local individual was charged with theft under $5000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, three counts of possession of a weapon while prohibited, two counts of failing to comply with a release order, and two counts of breach of probation.
