24-20411
In June 2024, members of the Kingston Police Drug Enforcement Unit began a drug investigation into two male parties actively trafficking crystal methamphetamine, cocaine, and fentanyl from a residence on Wright Crescent, in the City of Kingston.
On June 20, 2024, the targets of this investigation, as well as two other individuals, were observed leaving this premise in a cab. With the assistance of the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit, these individuals were subsequently stopped by police and placed under arrest for possession for the purpose of trafficking.
A search of these four individuals, incident to arrest, revealed that two occupants were each in possession of a quantity of Fentanyl, while another was in possession of a functioning taser, which was concealed on their person. All parties were subsequently transported to Kingston Police headquarters, where they were lodged in cells.
The Kingston Police Drug Enforcement Unit subsequently executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant at the residence on Wright Crescent. A search of this residence resulted in police locating indicia of drug trafficking, as well as a double-barreled, sawed-off shotgun, unsafely stored in the residence.
Maxwell GILLIS, a 38-year-old Kingston resident, was subsequently charged with several weapons offences under the Criminal Code of Canada. A 25-year-old individual from Kingston as well as a 45-year-old individual, of no fixed address, were also subsequently charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl.
