23-13084

On April 3, 2023, at approximately 2:55 a.m. patrol officers observed a vehicle speeding on Ford Street. As the officers conducted a U-turn in an attempt to stop the vehicle, the driver pulled over and along with passenger rushed toward the front entryway of a residence. The officers caught up to the individuals and requested the driver provide his license. The driver refused and the two attempted to retreat into the residence. As the officers moved to arrest the driver, the passenger became assaultive and attempted to intervene. A person inside the home called out and the passenger disengaged and retreated.

The driver, a 32-year-old individual from Peterborough was arrested and charged with obstruct police under the Criminal Code and Drive no license under the Highway Traffic Act.

Further investigation resulted in the passenger being identified. A warrant has been requested for the passenger, a 40-year-old individual from Yarker, for obstruct and assault police.
