Individual arrested and charged in relation to break and enter at downtown Kingston condominium

On September 18, 2023, at approximately 10:30 p.m. security video, at a residential condominium in downtown Kingston, captured footage of the accused using a flat edged metal tool to defeat the locked main entrance security doors to the building.

Once inside, the accused entered the main office of the building and proceeded to steal numerous courier packages that were waiting to be picked up by residents.

Police, through further investigation, were able to identify the accused and on October 18, 2023, at approximately 5:25 p.m. observed them walking in the area of Nelson Street and York Street. Officers arrested the accused, who was combative with police while being taken into custody.

The accused was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.

A 39-year-old local individual was charged with break and enter, possession of a break in instrument, and theft under $5000.
