On August 18, 2024, at approximately 10:00 p.m. Kingston Police responded to a report of an unauthorized person operating a front-end loader within a large industrial property located on McAdoo’s Lane.

Officers attended and attempted to stop the loader, but the operator refused to stop and drove to a more isolated area on the property.

Due to the nature in which the loader was being driven, and its pure size, officers left the immediate area and called for more support. Kingston Police K9 Unit and the Kingston Police Traffic Unit, with their drone, attended the scene.

The drone, using thermal imaging, spotted the front-end loader being driven around the property. After a short time, the operator was observed leaving the loader and walking around on the property.

The drone operators updated the patrol officers of the location of the operator. With the risk then reduced, officers approached and arrested the operator.

The 48-year-old operator from Kingston, was arrested and charged with fail to stop for police, impaired operation, fail to provide a breath sample on an approved instrument, mischief over $5000 and resist arrest. They were transported to Kingston Police headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.
