Kingston Police arrest individual for multiple offences

On January 24, 2024, at approximately 4:45 a.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division were conducting patrols in the area of Clubhouse Drive and Weller Avenue. The officers were aware of break and enter incidents which were recently reported in that area.

While conducting patrols, officers observed an individual wearing all black clothing and operating a bicycle without a light. The individual was carrying a large box and wearing a backpack which had tools protruding from it.

Officers attempted to speak to the individual, however the individual refused to stop and fled the area. While fleeing, the individual fell off their bicycle. A brief foot pursuit ensued which resulted in the individual being detained.

Upon being provided with the individual’s identity, the officers discovered the individual was in breach of a residential curfew. The individual was arrested for breaching their curfew conditions.

A search of the individual and the backpack they were wearing revealed the individual was in possession of break and enter tools which included, a hack saw, grinder, grinder blades, knives, side snips, Allen keys, screw drivers, and a pry bar.

A 34 year old Kingston individual was charged with possession of break-in instruments, possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of breach of probation and two counts of breach of release conditions. The individual was transported to Kingston Police Headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.
