On March 20, 2025, the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit, in collaboration with the Kingston Police Emergency Response Unit, executed a Justice of the Peace-authorized drug warrant at a residence in the Weller Avenue and Compton Street area of Kingston.

During the operation, officers arrested three non-Kingston individuals with extensive criminal records. A search of the residence led to the seizure of a variety of controlled substances and proceeds of crime.

Seized Items:
•    83.2 grams of cocaine
•    12.8 grams of crack cocaine
•    25 grams of fentanyl
•    46 MDMA tablets
•    111 Xanax pills
•    A small quantity of Canadian currency
•    Estimated street value of seized drugs: $9,790.

A 19-year-old individual of no fixed addressed resident was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, obstruct police, possession of proceeds of crime and fail to comply with release order. The individual was held in custody pending a bail hearing

This individual was already on a judicial release order for 64 violent offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act, including:

•    Three counts of firearm possession
•    Ten counts of armed robbery
•    Wearing a disguise with intent
•    Failing to stop for police
•    Five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking

These offences span multiple jurisdictions across Ontario, including Whitby, Thunder Bay, and Toronto.

A 17-year-old individual of no fixed addressed was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. They were held pending a bail release.

This individual was also wanted by Peel Regional Police for incest, sexual assault, sexual interference, invitation to sexual touching and making sexually explicit material. They were on two judicial release orders for failing to comply with an undertaking and mischief under $5000.

A 19-year-old individual of no fixed addressed was charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of proceeds of crime. This individual was wanted by Toronto Police for Mischief under $5,000 and was currently bound by a peace bond. They were held in custody pending a bail hearing.

“Our catch and release system in Canada is harming communities.  It is astonishing that an individual facing 64 charges, many of which involve violence, are permitted to continue to victimize members of our community. Chiefs across Canada have sounded the alarm bell regarding this failure in the judicial system. Sadly, nobody seems to be listening.”  Said Chief of Police Scott Fraser

These operations underscore a growing trend of individuals travelling to Kingston to distribute drugs. Kingston Police remain committed to thoroughly investigating these offenders and ensuring they are held accountable for the harm they inflict on the community.

Kingston Police encourage residents to report any information related to drug activity or weapons. Reports can be made through the online reporting portal or by contacting Detective Sergeant Shawn Birney at 613-549-4660 ext. 6323
