Kingston Police Launches Crime Prevention Week
Awareness, Engagement, Prevention
November 6, 2023
The Kingston Police today kicked off Ontario’s annual Crime Prevention Week, which runs from November 5 to 11, 2023. The week-long promotion of crime prevention is supported by the Ontario Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP), the Ministry of the Solicitor General, and police services across Ontario.
This year’s provincial theme “Awareness, Engagement, Prevention” will provide the Kingston Police with a platform to raise awareness on the most pressing issues to public safety. Please watch for how you can support Kingston community safety initiatives on our social media handles.
“Many crimes are preventable, and Crime Prevention Week is a great opportunity for Kingstonians to think about what they can do to assist in keeping their families, neighbourhoods, schools, and workplaces safe from criminal activities.” said Acting Chief Lillian Murdock.
Ontario communities are among the safest in the world, but community safety and well-being takes hard work and collaboration. That’s why the Kingston Police is proud to partner with government, community leaders, young people, and businesses to prevent crime throughout our communities.
Kingston Police would like Kingstonians to think about how they can protect themselves, their families, neighbours, and workplaces from crime. Whether crime occurs in the home, on-line or involves fraud, theft of a vehicle, physical assaults or bullying, there is always a victim or group of victims.
Crime prevention involves all of us working together to make our homes, neighbourhoods, and workplaces healthy and safe. If we mobilize the entire community, the impact on the wellness and safety of all Kingstonians is limitless.
