Kingston Police Special Services Division continues targeted enforcement of drug traffickers

The Kingston Police Special Services Division continues with their commitment to targeted enforcement of drug traffickers in the City of Kingston, executing two search warrants on December 14, 2023, under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.
The Drug Enforcement Unit concluded an investigation into the trafficking of crystal methamphetamine in the Leroy Grant Drive area. With the assistance of the Emergency Response Unit, officers executed two search warrants at two different apartments. As a result, two persons were arrested and charged with possession of substances for the purposes of trafficking under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and possession of property obtained by crime.
Seized at the residences were:
- 1,591 grams of crystal methamphetamine (1.59 kilograms)
- 370 18mg hydromorphone pills
- 172 morphine pills
- a large quantity of Canadian currency
In a separate investigation, the Street Crime Unit executed a second search warrant in 48 hours at “Shroomyz” psychedelic mushroom dispensary at 149 Brock Street in downtown Kingston. The operators had re-opened the same storefront following a previous investigation on December 12, 2023, which resulted in significant seizures of psychedelic mushroom products.
Seized in this investigation were:
- 2561.25g (2.56 kilograms) of psychedelic mushroom products with an estimated value of $56,000.00
- $700.00 in Canadian currency
Psychedelic mushrooms remain a controlled substance under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act and as such the trafficking of these products remains unlawful.
