Kingston Police Street Crime Unit effect multiple arrests involving drug & firearm related offences

Individuals arrested as part of two separate investigations by the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit and the ongoing dedication to combating the influx of dangerous illegal drugs and weapons possession within the City of Kingston, Ontario. 

 

On February 6, 2024, Kingston Police Street Crime Unit members arrested an individual in the area of MacDonnell Street and Concession Street in the City of Kingston. Upon arrest, the accused was found to be in possession of a large quantity of Canadian currency and fentanyl. A subsequent search warrant was conducted at the residence of the accused and during the arrest search investigators located the following:

 

  • 21 grams of fentanyl
  • 73 grams of crystal methamphetamine
  • CO2 powered replica firearm
  • Shotgun shells
  • Morphine and other non-prescribed pills.

 

The accused who resides locally was charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of proceeds of crime, possession of a firearm while prohibited, and two counts of breach of probation. The accused was held for a bail hearing the following day.

In a separate investigation, conducted on February 8, 2024, members of the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit, while on patrol in the area of Compton Street and Weller Avenue in the City of Kingston, Ontario, investigated an individual that initially made attempts to elude police while riding a bicycle. Upon further investigation members located the individual in possession of a backpack that contained an operable .22 calibre firearm with numerous rounds of associated ammunition. This individual was also found to be in possession of over 100 grams of purple and pink coloured crystalized fentanyl.

 

The accused, who resides locally, was subsequently charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking a Schedule 1 substance, possessing a weapon dangerous to the public peace, possession of a firearm without holding a licence, careless storage of a firearm, careless storage of ammunition, carrying a concealed weapon, three counts of breach of probation, and six counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited under past court orders. The accused was held pending a bail hearing the following day.

 

In light of the recent opioid overdose crisis declared in Belleville, Ontario, Kingston Police continues to remain dedicated to the commitment of targeting individuals that traffic drugs and carry illegal weapons that are dangerous to the citizens that we strive to serve and keep safe on a daily basis.
