24-19622

On June 14, 2024, at approximately 2:10 p.m. police responded to a call regarding a disturbance at an apartment building located in the area of Conacher Drive in Kingston’s north end.

Arriving at this location, officers observed a large hole, covered in blood, in a glass window located in one of the hallways of the apartment building. Blood droplets on the ground led officers to one of the units and the accused was found inside bleeding from a cut/wound to their arm from punching through the glass in the hallway.

Officers attempted to place the accused under arrest for the act of mischief to property, however, they resisted violently and attempted to pull an object from their waistband. After a short struggle the accused was handcuffed at which time they turned and spat at one of the officers. The accused then proceeded to bite a second officer. Further, the accused made threats to cause bodily harm to both arresting officers during the incident.

A search incident to arrest revealed that the accused had been in possession of a flick knife, which had been hidden in their waistband. The accused was also breaching multiple probation conditions at the time of their arrest.

The accused was transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend an upcoming bail hearing.

A 23-year-old local individual was charged with two counts of assaulting a peace officer, resisting arrest, carrying a concealed weapon, uttering threats to cause bodily harm, mischief under $5000, and three counts of breaching probation.
