Local individual arrested and charged with trafficking drugs at their workplace

In early July 2024 members of the Kingston Police Street Crime Unit received information from a local business in relation to a male employee whom they believed to be actively trafficking drugs to customers attending the store. 

An investigation was initiated with the full cooperation of the business staff, which, on July 10, 2024, culminated in the execution of two Controlled Drugs and Substances Act warrants at both the store and a residence in the west end of Kingston. With the assistance of the Kingston Police Canine Unit, the Drug Enforcement Unit and a member of the General Patrol Division, a search of both addresses led to the seizure of the following:

·         645.5 grams of Cocaine

·         235 Oxycodone 80 pills (Green)

·         .32 calibre prohibited firearm

·         50 rounds of ammunition

·         Large quantity of Canadian currency

·         Street value of drugs located - $73,950

A 38-year-old male resident of Kingston was charged with possession of a firearm while currently on a court-imposed firearms prohibition order, possession of proceeds of crime (currency), two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking (Cocaine, Oxycodone 80 pills) and 10 firearms charges under the Criminal Code of Canada. The male was held for a bail hearing on July 11, 2024, at the Ontario Court of Justice. 

This investigation originated with the assistance of a local Kingston business and would not have been possible without their cooperation. The Kingston Police Special Services Division remains committed to targeting drug traffickers in our community and reminds the public to report any suspicious drug or firearm activity immediately.
