Man who Damaged Downtown Business Windows Injures Self in the Process

A 28-year-old local man who decided to break multiple windows of a downtown Division St business cut his hand in the process and caught the attention of nearby paramedics, who followed him until Kingston Police could bring him into custody.

At approximately 2:00 p.m. on April 15, 2020 the man was walking south on Division St near Garrett St when for no known reason he produced a blunt object and began smashing in all the large windows of an eatery. The man had left prior to police arrival but once on scene officers discovered a significant amount of blood on the cut glass.

Shortly after this time Frontenac Paramedic Services noticed a male walking on Macdonnell St, bleeding profusely from several cuts to his hand. This was relayed to Kingston Police who at approximately 2:45 p.m. located the man at College St and Union St and identified him from descriptors as being the person responsible for the damage. He was arrested without incident, first transported to Kingston General Hospital to have his wounds addressed, and then brought to the police station where he was held for a bail hearing due to police having repeated encounters with him during the COVID-19 pandemic. He faces a charge of Mischief under $5,000.
