Multiple Kingston Police units quickly locate missing person

Patrol Officers along with members of the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) and Traffic Drone Pilot locate missing person.

 

At approximately 5:40 a.m. on October 24, 2023, Kingston Police received a call regarding concerns for the well-being of a 28-year-old. The individual was last seen entering a wooded area near Railway Street and Montreal Street. Patrol officers responded and after an initial investigation, concern for the individual escalated and the Emergency Response Unit (ERU) was called out to begin a search. A short time later, the drone was deployed by the Traffic Safety Unit to assist in the search.

 

With updated information from Patrol Officers and under the direction of the ERU search manager the drone was utilized to fly over a wooded area south of Railway Street and west of Montreal Street. With use of the thermal camera, the drone picked up body heat of the individual. Patrol and ERU were directed to the person’s location and found the individual who was in good health.
