Officers locate and return dog to owner

25-9729

On March 26, 2025, at approximately 2:30 a.m. two officers conducting routine patrol located a dog which appeared to be lost in the west end of the city. The dog appeared to be well taken care of and groomed.

The officers were able to take the dog into their care and attempted to locate an owner, however no identification tags were located on the dog. The dog did have a rabies vaccination tag on its harness from a local veterinarian.

Given the time-of-day officers were unable to make contact with the veterinarian’s office. The dog remained in the care of officers and was brought to the veterinarian’s office by a Kingston Police dispatcher at the conclusion of their overnight shift.

The dog was later reunited with its owner. The Kingston Police wish to remind pet owners of the importance of registering their pets and ensuring the pet is equipped with proper identification.
