On November 12, 2023, a twenty dollar counterfeit United States bill was passed at a restaurant in Kingston’s west end. The accused, who had passed the bill, then took a cab from the restaurant and paid the driver with another counterfeit United States bill. Both recipients of these bills contacted the police who commenced an investigation.

On November 28, 2023, the accused entered a store on Princess Street in downtown Kingston and selected various merchandise, which was then paid for with counterfeit United States currency. Later that same day a local restaurant received a takeout order for pizza which was subsequently delivered to an address in the area of Kingscourt Avenue. The accused paid for the pizza with counterfeit United States currency. The delivery driver, who a short time later observed that they had been paid with counterfeit currency, then contacted Kingston Police.

On November 30, 2023, police located and arrested the accused who was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing.

A 30-year-old local individual was charged with four counts of utter counterfeit money.
