Police arrest and charge individual for drug and weapon offences in downtown Kingston

On March 25, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m. police were notified by a concerned citizen that an individual was selling drugs outside of a business in the 600 block of Princess Street in downtown Kingston.
Arriving at the specified location shortly after, officers observed the individual in question attempting to make a sale in the parking lot of the business. Upon noticing the approaching officers, the individual attempted to flee, however, they were quickly arrested by police.
Upon searching the accused, police located small baggies containing suspected drugs as well as drug paraphernalia. A bb gun and throwing knife were also discovered concealed in a sweater that the accused was wearing.
The following was seized during the arrest:
- 3.7 grams of fentanyl
- 2.6 grams of psilocybin mushrooms
- A quantity of Canadian currency
- Loaded bb gun
- Fixed blade throwing knife
- 2 digital scales
The accused was subsequently transported to police headquarters where they were held to attend a bail hearing the following day.
A 34-year-old local individual was charged with possession of a Schedule 1 substance for trafficking, possession of a Schedule 3 substance for trafficking, two counts of carrying a concealed weapon, two counts of possession of a weapon dangerous to public peace, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, two counts of possession of a firearm while prohibited, and three counts of breach of probation.
