Police investigate overnight break and enter and motor vehicle collision.

On February 13, 2024, at approximately 4:00 a.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to an alarm call at a business in the west end.

While responding to this call, officers observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed in the area of Princess Street and John Counter Boulevard. Assisting officers attempted to locate this vehicle in the nearby area, however were unable to locate the vehicle.

At approximately 4:05 a.m. officers arrived on scene and found a door to the business ajar. The business was checked by officers, and no one was located inside. Officers did, however, observe evidence that a break and enter and theft had occurred at the business.

At approximately 4:10 a.m. Kingston Police received a report that a vehicle had crashed into a house in the area of Victoria Street and Oak Street. Members of the Patrol Division responded and located the vehicle which had struck two homes in the area.

The vehicle is believed to be the same vehicle that was earlier observed travelling at a high rate of speed. One individual was located in the rear of the vehicle and transported to hospital by ambulance. Police believe this vehicle was also involved in the west end break and enter.

Through the course of investigation, it was discovered that two individuals had fled from the vehicle on foot. Upon making this discovery, officers requested the assistance of the Kingston Police Canine Unit.

The Canine Unit, including Police Service Dog “Dak” arrived on scene, and with the assistance of patrol officers, initiated a track however were unable to locate the two suspects.
