Police looking to identify suspect who approached teen
Occurrence #24-92400
Kingston Police detectives are investigating a matter where an adult male approached a teenager at a city central business and made a request she join him.
On June 7, 2024, at approximately 8:00 p.m. the 15-year-old female was by herself inside a store located at the Kingston Centre, 1036 Princess St, when an adult male she had observed moments earlier in the parking lot, looking in her direction, came up to her in the toy aisle. The male asked the teen if she lived in Kingston and if she could make a recommendation on either a pub or a licensed establishment in town. He then asked if she would accompany him.
The teenager, feeling uncomfortable, attended the front of the store and spoke to a manager. Staff checked the area, but the male had already left. A description of the person and video surveillance footage was obtained. The male is described as South Asian, tall, slim build, short hair, wearing blue jeans, blue or grey sneakers with white soles, and a blue t-shirt with a yellow graphic and white lettering on the chest.
Investigators are requesting the public’s assistance in identifying this male or knowing any frequented location he may attend. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Carolyn Gauthier via email at cgauthier@kingstonpolice.ca or by calling 613-549-4660 ext. 6306.
