Police seek public’s assistance in robbery investigation.

The Kingston Police are seeking the public’s assistance in an ongoing robbery investigation. 

On April 26, 2024, at approximately 08:25 a.m. the victim, who was walking south bound in the area of Barrie Street and York Street, was approached by the suspect who demanded money while displaying an edged weapon.

The suspect slashed at the victim and a struggle ensued, causing the victim and suspect to fall to the ground.  As a result of the attack, the victim sustained superficial cuts to their arms and leg before they were able to get up and flee.

The suspect, is described as a Caucasian male, approximately 40 years old, 5’9, 180-200 pounds with a medium build. The suspect had unkept greying hair, a greying facial beard and was described as having strong body odour and a deep voice. 

At the time of the incident, the suspect was wearing a black puffy jacket. The suspect was last seen on foot in the area of Barrie Street and York Street. 

The victim and the suspect were not known to each other, and police do not believe the victim was targeted for a particular reason. Members of the public are encouraged to remain vigilant with their surroundings.

Police are asking anyone who may have been driving in the area or lives in the area to review dash and/or security camera footage in the event this altercation or the suspect was captured on video.
