Princess Street Collision Results in the Death of Pedestrian

Occurrence # 24-20273

 

Kingston Police are advising that a collision on June 19, 2024 between a single motor vehicle and a pedestrian has resulted in the death of a 75-year-old local woman.

 

Shortly before 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 19 the pedestrian was crossing the multi-lane roadway south on Princess St near McMichael St and Hillendale Ave when she was struck by a white Cadillac sedan travelling east.

 

Witnesses called 911 while performing emergency medical care on the woman, taken over by a uniform patrol officer prior to paramedics arriving on scene. The pedestrian was transported to hospital but was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and was cooperative with police.

 

Kingston Police collision reconstructionists with the Traffic Safety Unit processed the scene along with forensic identification officers. Princess St was closed in both directions for a number of hours, reopening at approximately 5:30 p.m. The involved vehicle was seized for further inspection.   

 

While statements and evidence have been collected Kingston Police are requesting anyone that may have seen or heard the collision to contact investigators. Additionally, while canvassing of the area has been conducted by officers, any residents or business owners with street-facing cameras, or drivers with dash cam recordings, to contact police if they believe they have captured the collision or the vehicle or pedestrian in advance of the event.
