24-42901

On November 30, 2024, at approximately 12:15 p.m. an officer with the Kingston Police Community Response Unit was conducting patrol in the area of Palace Road and Bath Road.

The officer observed a vehicle being operated by an individual who the officer knew to be a suspended driver. The officer subsequently conducted a traffic stop with the vehicle. Upon stopping, the driver of the vehicle quickly exited the vehicle despite being directed by the officer to remain inside the vehicle.

The officer attempted to place the driver under arrest for driving while under suspension.  The driver of the vehicle became combative and began resisting arrest by pushing and striking the officer. While this was occurring two other individuals fled from the vehicle.

The driver of the vehicle was controlled and arrested, while one of the passengers was found in a nearby business attempting to hide items in the washroom. Officers discovered a bag of crystal methamphetamine and a bag of fentanyl hidden inside a public washroom in a manner that a child or any member of the public could have come into contact with it.

The passenger was arrested and a further search of their person revealed they were in possession of additional amounts of crystal methamphetamine and fentanyl.

During a search of the vehicle officers discovered a large machete, dog spray, four replica BB guns, two flare guns which appear to have been modified to fire ammunition as well as 40 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.

In total officers seized approximately 24 grams of fentanyl, 29 grams of crystal methamphetamine, four replica handguns, two modified flare guns, two knives and 40 rounds of 9 mm ammunition.
