Repeat offender arrested for breaking into downtown apartment building.

On September 2, 2024, an individual on bail for a previous prowl by night offence was caught on security camera breaking into a downtown apartment complex.

At approximately 1:30 a.m. the individual attended an apartment complex in the area of Princess Street and Clergy Street. The individual then used an object to defeat the locking mechanism on the front door of the complex. The individual remained inside the building for several hours before departing.

The incident was reported to Kingston Police by the property manager who provided police with footage from the buildings CCTV system which police used to identify the individual.

On September 5, 2024, a 47-year-old local individual was arrested and charged with break and enter with intent, mischief under $5000 and prowl by night. The individual was transported to Kingston Police headquarters where they were held for a bail hearing.

The individual, who was already on bail for a previous charge of prowl by night in June of 2024 attended a bail hearing on September 6, 2024, and was once again released on bail by the court.
