25-9842
On March 26, 2025, at approximately 8:10 p.m. members of the Kingston Police Patrol Division responded to a report of a three-vehicle collision at the intersection of Bath Road and Queen Mary Road.
Through the course of investigation officers were able to determine a vehicle being operated by the accused travelling westbound on Bath Road rear ended another vehicle which was stopped for the traffic control signal at the intersection. The accused’s vehicle struck the stopped vehicle with such force that it caused that vehicle to come into contact with a third vehicle.
Officers were also able to determine that the driver of the vehicle was impaired by alcohol and subsequently arrested the driver for impaired operation of a conveyance.
As a result of the collision the occupant of the stopped vehicle suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries.
The 63-year-old driver of the vehicle was arrested and transported to Kingston Police Headquarters. Once there the accused refused to provide a sample of their breath into an approved instrument to determine the level, if any, of alcohol in their blood.
The accused was subsequently charged with impaired operation of a conveyance, fail to provide a breath sample and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle. The accused was later released with a future court date.
