*** ORIGINAL RELEASE ON AUGUST 8, 2024 ***

Kingston Police detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a blue Jeep and its occupants that are believed to be possibly involved in a fatal motorcycle collision.

On July 31, 2024, shortly after 11:00 p.m., emergency responders first attended the area of Bath Rd between Gardiners Rd and Tanner Dr, where a motorcycle travelling east with two occupants fell to the roadway and slid into the westbound lane. Contact was made between a Ford Escape going west and the motorcycle’s rider and passenger, resulting in their deaths.

While the occupants of the Ford Escape immediately stopped, remained on scene, and were cooperative with police, information and evidence were obtained by investigators that a blue Jeep, travelling in the same direction as the motorcycle, was possibly involved in a sequence of events prior to the motorcycle losing control.

Video surveillance has been obtained as a result of the investigation. Kingston Police are sharing one video in the area of Bath Rd at Days Rd, moments before and west of the collision scene. The blue Jeep in question is originally seen on Days Rd making a left-hand turn to go west on Bath Rd. However, approximately 30 seconds afterwards the Jeep is then seen travelling east on Bath Rd, heading towards Gardiners Rd, where moments later the collision occurred. The Jeep was last seen continuing east on Bath Rd towards Tanner Dr. Information was provided to investigators that the Jeep had multiple occupants, all believed to be male from descriptions provided. These individuals are asked to contact Kingston Police.

Anyone with information on the Jeep or its occupants is asked to contact Detective John Cerutti via email at jcerutti@kingstonpolice.ca or by calling 613-549-4660 ext. 6404. Please refer to occurrence #24-26226. Additionally, while the area has been canvassed by detectives, any businesses or residences with exterior video surveillance recording capability is asked to review their footage around the time of the collision and contact investigators if anything of interest is discovered.
