    Kingston Police are currently dealing with an active incident in the area of Canatara Court. There is no immediate threat to the general public. However, we are asking the public to avoid the area at this time and that anyone living in the area stay clear of police activity. 

  • Police issue scam alert in advance of the upcoming tax season

    Millions of people around the world are paying their taxes this time of year, and cybercriminals and scammers are hoping to get paid, too. In this scam, they’re taking advantage of tax season by trying to trick you into opening an email and downloading a malicious PDF attachment. The email they send looks like a government form and includes a link to download the PDF attachment. The scammers even include helpful instructions for pasting the web page URL into your browser in case the link isn’t working.

  • Kingston Police and the City of Kingston issue warning regarding parking ticket smishing scam

    Suspicious text messages asking community members to immediately pay parking tickets have been reported to the City of Kingston and Kingston Police. Parking tickets cannot be paid via text message. Be aware of suspicious looking text messages and don’t click links in them or provide personal information such as passwords.

  • Individual arrested for impaired driving after nearly striking another vehicle in downtown Kingston

    On March 26, 2024, at approximately 8:55 p.m. a concerned citizen contacted police to advise that they had observed a motor vehicle driving on lawns and almost striking a building on Stuart Street in downtown Kingston. It was further reported that this vehicle was driving on a flat tire.

  • Police arrest and charge individual for drug and weapon offences in downtown Kingston

    On March 25, 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m. police were notified by a concerned citizen that an individual was selling drugs outside of a business in the 600 block of Princess Street in downtown Kingston.

  • Police issue advisory related to new AI technology based vishing scam

    It’s no secret that cybercriminals are using AI technology to craft phishing emails, but did you know AI can also help them with voice phishing (vishing)? It’s surprisingly easy to teach AI software to sound like a specific person. All they need to recreate your voice is a short audio clip, like one from a recorded phone call or a video posted to social media. Once the cybercriminals have your voice, they can easily target friends, family members, and coworkers with AI-powered vishing.

  • Individual arrested and charged with a weapon related offence in downtown Kingston

    On March 23, 2024, at approximately 7:35 p.m. police responded to a weapon related offence that had just taken place in the area of Princess Street and Clergy Street in downtown Kingston.
