Kingston Police are requesting assistance from the public in attempting to identify a suspect that was involved in two separate fires. There were no injuries at either scene and no significant damage was incurred to residential or commercial property. Kingston Police and Kingston Fire and Rescue have numerous other similar investigations ongoing.
The first incident occurred on September 9, 2023, at approximately 5:30 a.m. in the Nelson Street area. A suspect was observed, on security video, entering a shed and starting a fire. The suspect left shortly after, and Kingston Fire and Rescue attended to extinguish the fire.
In this incident the suspect is described as wearing an orange or red hoodie or jacket and had a dark-coloured backpack over their right shoulder. The suspect was also carrying a green bag.
The second incident occurred on September 12, 2023, at approximately 10:30 a.m. at 349 Bath Road. The suspect attended a rear lot at this address and proceeded to carry paper boxes into the woods. A fire was started and the suspect then left the scene.
In this incident the male suspect is described as wearing an orange or red hoodie with the word “VARSITY” in yellow across the chest. The suspect was also wearing a Khaki or beige coloured ball cap and black adidas athletic pants with three white stripes down the outer leg. The suspect, who had a slim to medium build, was smoking a cigarette and was wearing a dark-coloured backpack. The suspect had arrived at the scene riding a black coloured BMX style bicycle with forward slanting handlebars.
